A little while back, I learned about Free: The Future of a Radical Price by Chris Anderson (disclosure) from @ateegarden.

I finally just started to listen to it now… and I’m hooked! Anything that starts off with an example of Monty Python giving away their videos on YouTube has got to be good.

It really is fascinating just how much stuff (Anderson uses Google as an example) we use on a regular basis that we don’t pay a direct financial cost for, and how pervasive the word itself is in today’s economy.

I’ve thought about changing the name of this site to “No Monetary Cost to You Personal Development Material.”

While it’s more accurate, it is a bit clunky, wouldn’t you say?

One of the reasons that I started this blog is because many people who are starting on their personal growth journey don’t have the financial resources to attend a $2000 Tony Robbins Weekend [material connection].

Hell, just a couple of years ago, I didn’t have the financial resources to buy a Tony Robbins book!

Thank you, public libraries!

(By the way… the above isn’t a shot the cost of Tony’s seminars – I seriously doubt they’d still be happening for as long as they have been if they didn’t offer a return on investment that far exceeds their cost.)

Anyway…

I’ve been thinking about this rant by Paul Myers that I read after downloading his free “Need to Know” manual and subscribing to his TalkBiz newsletter, and I’d like to share it with you.

Don’t worry… it’s not a guilt trip – but it is an honest look from a businessman’s perspective on people who are trapped in the “gimmee gimmee gimmee” mindset – as well as a bit of a reality check for business people who complain that people just want stuff for free.

So I guess the “free” personal development material I have for you right now is a look into ways you may need to adjust your attitude.

I’m not sure if it is or not… but if an expert like Mark Joyner thinks it might be, then it’s worth checking out.

In anticipation of the release of his latest Simpleology course – The Simpleology Great Teachers Series:  Ted Nicholas and Joe Sugarman Teach Direct Response Copywriting – Mark has released a video of Joe Sugarman speaking at his “Survival Tactics for Tough Times” seminar in 2002.  According to the source, this is something that is normally charged for – but you’re getting it for free.

(The landing page also says “for the next couple of days…”, which is why I labeled this post as being time sensitive.  I don’t want any of my readers to miss out.)
